Children’s Ministry

Children’s Ministry

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and don’t try to stop them!  People who are like these children belong in God’s Kingdom” (Matthew 19:14; CEV).

Our goal is to provide a loving and welcoming environment in order to help each child grow in their knowledge and understanding of who God is, to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to share God’s love in Beaufort and around the world. Our ministry programs are intended for girls and boys in 1st through 5th grade.  We offer a variety of spiritual, educational, social, and recreational opportunities for our children.  Building positive memories within the larger faith community is important to us. We want our children to learn and experience God’s love in a warm, safe, secure, and caring environment.  We have “Child Protection Policies and Procedures” in place to ensure the safety and care of our children and adult volunteers.

First Time Guests

If you are visiting Sunday School:

Our Children’s Suite is located on the 2nd floor of Building C (you’ll see directional signs on our building).  A smiling face will greet you at the entrance of Building C and will assist getting you and your grade-school child to the Children’s Suite.  Our Children’s Coordinator will help you get checked in on our computer system so your child will have a name badge, and you will get a parent security badge. Please let our Children’s Coordinator know any special information to help us better take care of your child while they are in our care. Each volunteer and teacher has passed a background check to help us ensure your child will be safe at all times.  Parents will receive information regarding options for adult classes to attend.

If you are joining us for Worship:

Children (grades 1-5) are encouraged to worship with the church family each week.  We provide Children’s Activity Bags with age appropriate activities for younger children to use during worship. Children are also invited to come forward for “Words for Our Children” each Sunday.  Children’s bulletins are provided for our children each week.

Sunday School

Children (Grades 1-5) meet for Sunday School in the Children’s Suite (Building C, Second Floor) for age-appropriate activities from 9:15 until 10:15 am each Sunday.

Worship

Worship is the heart of the Christian life.  Our children learn to worship by being present in worship with other children, youth, and adults each week.  We include children (grades 1-5) in our worship services because we follow Jesus Christ, who welcomed and fully accepted children.  We want our children to know that we, too, accept them as they are.  We want children to realize through their experiences the potential they have as children of God.

Our children are invited and encouraged to be active participants in our worship services.  We provide Children’s Activity Bags and Children’s Bulletins for our children each week.  We offer “Words for Our Children” in worship each week.  Older children serve as acolytes and our children’s choirs lead in worship several times during the traditional school year.  Our children contribute to and enrich our corporate worship experience.

Wednesday Nights

Children and families meet for the family night meal from 5:00 until 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Children enjoy age-appropriate activities from 6:00 until 7:00 pm in the Children’s Suite (September – April).
